Catching Up on the Blog!

Last week I made a quick blog post announcing our return to regular updates, only for our site’s security certificate to expire and prevent us from making reliable updates. Wednesday’s page updated just fine, but I didn’t see the point of another blog post when folks had trouble reading the first one! But now things are back to normal (I hope), and I’m going to try again to make regular blog posts to get back into the swing of things!

I’ll start with a warm-up blog entry. Whenever I would have trouble figuring out what to write about, I’d make a “potpourri” entry of bite-sized thoughts that were banging around in my head. None of them big enough to make into a blog entry on their own, but I still wanted to talk about them. So here we go!

I’ve been playing ranked online matches in Mortal Kombat 11 in order to unlock a series of character skins I want, and it’s been one of the most miserable experiences of my life. The game itself is still enjoyable, but playing against random opponents across the globe makes me want to put my fist through a wall. Some of these people never played fighting games the way I did: in the same room with someone, and if you fought like an annoying asshole you were sure to get punched in the head and/or not invited back. Those costumes are sweet, though, so I’ll suffer through this nonsense until I get them.

I just read “Uzumaki” by Junji Ito for the first time. That’s all I’m going to say about that. The more I talk about the spirals, the more chances they have to find me. And make me one of them! I DON’T WANT TO BE A SNAIL PERSON!

My four-year-old son has discovered Chowder, the Cartoon Network show from about ten(!) years ago. I loved that show, but I never would have thought to show it to my four year old. He. Loves. It. I don’t think he understands most of the jokes, but he thinks the food is funny.

I’ve spoken at length about how much I love playing No Man’s Sky, but the new and game-changing update, No Man’s Sky: Beyond is just so damn good like there’s so much of the same game that made me fall in love with it but they also made some things easier while making other things more challenging but never making anything less fun I mean how do you do that and oh there’s also cooking now which is super robust and I’m a crappy space cook but I like experimenting with ingredients farmed from plants and animals and oh my god you can tame and ride alien animals now do you know how awesome it feels to ride across a mind-bending landscape while seated atop a DINOSAUR OH MY STARS AND GALAXIES IT’S SO GOOD I CAN’T EVEN

I think that catches me up on everything I would have wanted to talk about here in the blog section. Now I’m free to make a proper entry on Thursday about whatever happens to come up between now and then. See you then!
